Why fresh conversations matter for tracking.

How temporary ChatGPT and Gemini chats and Claude Incognito reduce conversation carry-over, and what they cannot standardize.

If yesterday’s question changes today’s answer, comparisons become harder to explain. Fresh conversations help reduce that carry-over, but they do not make every provider answer identical.

Previous messages can change the result.

Asking “Which product would suit me?” after discussing your budget is different from asking the same sentence in a fresh conversation. Earlier brand names and preferences can influence the next response.

For a tracking baseline, keep each buyer question self-contained and use a fresh conversation instead of continuing the previous question’s thread.

Use the provider’s temporary mode.

Echuno’s current browser runner requires ChatGPT Temporary Chat, Claude Incognito, and Gemini Temporary chat before submitting a tracked question. If it cannot confirm the required mode, it stops the request rather than submitting to a normal conversation.

New captures record the temporary collection mode. Older saved records are preserved; changing the runner does not retroactively change how those answers were collected.

Fresh does not mean identical.

Temporary conversations reduce previous-thread carry-over. They do not guarantee the same model, retrieval results, region, account configuration, or response on every run.

Do not describe these observations as a universal, anonymous view of the provider. Keep the provider, date, exact question, and collection method with the answer.

Compare like with like.

Keep browser captures separate from API measurements when comparing trends. They may use different models, search behavior, or context.

When your collection method changes, record the change. Read a few new answers before interpreting a movement as a change in how the provider views your brand.
